You could be a perfect driver who has never put a wheel wrong, but you can ' t control the standard of other drivers on the road, which could explain why car insurance is the only compulsory form of insurance in the UK.
It is so common these days, you are minding your own business, happily driving along, then all of a sudden a car is pretty much in your boot as some petrol head decides to tailgate you. They then decide to overtake ( usually on a corner ) putting you and the oncoming driver at risk as well as themselves.
It is these drivers who make the roads unsafe and who are more likely to crash and put your car insurance premiums up. And, realistically, there is nothing you can do apart from continue to drive well and remain calm in situations that could easily provoke road rage.
